Not a drop-in camp

This is player development.

DPSD is for serious, hardworking basketball players who want to discover how good they can become. Players are coached, challenged and held accountable. If your child is looking for somewhere simply to hang out, this probably isn’t the program.

25+ yrs

Dedicated to studying, teaching and developing basketball skills through daily gym work, games and competitions.

Daily work

Consistent practice, focused coaching and purposeful skill development.

Purpose

Intentional repetition, coaching, progression and accountability — not just activity for activity’s sake.

Why DPSD is different

A life spent
in the gym.

25+ years of daily work

There are thousands of people calling themselves basketball trainers. Very few have spent the last 25+ years doing this every single day.

I have. I’ve studied the game, created drills, trained and observed players, and continually searched for better ways to develop basketball skills.

During the school year, I’ve spent approximately four or more hours a day in the gym. During summer, that has often been eight to twelve hours a day, in addition to games and competitions.

“This isn’t something I recently decided to try. This is my life.”

I’ve created hundreds of original drills and training concepts. My work has been viewed by coaches and trainers, and I’ve had opportunities to work at the professional level, including opportunities connected to the NBA.

I don’t use “world-level” as a slogan alone. I believe the depth of work, experience and methodology should speak for itself.

The results speak

Progress changes everything.

I’ve worked with players who started at the end of the bench, were cut from teams, averaged around five points a game, or were overlooked — and later became major contributors, MVP-level players, NCAA prospects, university athletes and successful adults.

I’ve worked with boys and girls who went on to NCAA basketball opportunities. My full-time player-development program has produced an exceptional NCAA scholarship track record, including a 100% NCAA scholarship graduation rate among players who completed the full-time program, based on my program records.

The DPSD system

Four pillars.
One complete player.

Purposeful repetition, advanced footwork, ball handling, shooting, passing, defensive movement, spatial awareness, decision-making and full-court skill development.

Build toward the standard

Repetition with a purpose.

Training targets can progress as players develop. A new player isn’t thrown into an eight-hour workout on day one. We assess, teach, build and progress.

School year · Daily targets

Consistency first.

  • Dribbles5,000
  • Shots1,000
  • Passes1,000
  • Defensive work30 minutes

Summer / extended breaks

More room to grow.

  • Dribbles10,000
  • Shots2,000
  • Passes2,000
  • Defensive work60 minutes

These are development targets players may build toward based on age, ability, experience and readiness — not day-one requirements.

How we train

Productive by design.

↗

Shooting technology

A shooting machine helps players accumulate a high volume of quality repetitions.

↗

Purposeful repetition

We aren’t simply exercising. We’re deliberately developing basketball skills.

↗

Advanced methods

Full-court movement, footwork, ball manipulation, passing, shooting, defensive positioning, spatial awareness and decision-making.

↗

Experience

Training shaped by decades of study, observation, teaching and time in the gym.

Books + basketball

Develop the player.
Develop the person.

Basketball is a vehicle for building work ethic, discipline, maturity, accountability, goal setting, confidence, leadership and education. The goal is to help create a better person through the discipline of basketball.

Parents · Start early

Don’t wait until Grade 12.

I’ve had Grade 12 players tell me, “I wish somebody had told me about you when I was in Grade 7 or 8.” By Grade 12, there are limitations on how much development time remains.

When they’re ready to work, start building the skills early.

A good fit matters

For players who…

  • Love basketball
  • Want to improve
  • Are willing to work
  • Accept coaching
  • Want to play at a higher level

Not for players who…

  • Don’t want to work
  • Constantly fool around
  • Won’t listen or be coached
  • Are looking for babysitting
  • Aren’t serious about improving
